LIFE'S LIFE

All living things express life in their own way depending upon what they are.  Humans express life on a level which is above all others.  While the other forms are subservient to humans, we should respect all life forms, maybe with a few exceptions like bed bugs and mosquitoes.  It is almost impossible that what we call "life" could have had different origins for every living form.  If life has a common origin, we share more than the Earth.

The thing which is "alive" is possessed by its life.  They are two separate entities.  Our bodies can lose many of its parts but still be alive. When an arm is amputated, life can no longer be expressed through it yet the body itself still lives..  In the same way, the brain and the mind are separate, the body, its parts and its life are separate.  A paraplegic loses mobilty but not life.  A comatose person does not lose life.  Life is a persistent entity.

Just as  life leaves the amputated arm but is still present within the body, when the body "dies" life can no longer be expressed through it but life remains behind, no longer having a body through which it can communicate.   Life joined the body in the beginning and it leaves the body in the end.

Conjecture about what happens to that bodyless life has puzzled man from the beginning. Some contend it "dies" with the body while others believe that since only its expression and not its existence depended upon a physical body, it could still exist without a body as a non-material being, as it did before entering the body.

What do you think?
