We live in a country and time when 350,000,000 people sit back and HOPE enough of us will VOLUNTEER to risk there lives to protect the rest of us. What kind of people have we become? Suppose they did not volunteer, would we sit by and watch our country overrun by savages?
We don't even ask our military to serve. They volunteer to take these risks. Should we be immune to risk, hardship and the possibility of being killed. Just as those brave men and women who defend us are willing, in the cause of preserving freedom for us, even when surrendering their own to do it, to take chances, so should we.
The unconstitutional, unusual and contradictory ways we have adopted to protect ourselves from terrorists is the evidence that we are NOT willing to take the same risks we ask them to take. We whimper and wring our hands while they crouch in the mud or sand looking for the little protection they can find. We take cowardly actions, surrendering fundamental freedoms hoping it will save us. Instead, we give up the very things the enemy want to deprive us of, in the name of preventing the enemy from taking them from us. What a joke! The terrorists may kill thousands of US civilians but is that enough to steal our freedom? If we expect others to risk their lives in this battle, shouldn't we be willing to do the same? Our service people are killed every day but they receive little recognition from us but let a handful of civilians get killed and the whole country goes nuts.
Countries like Israel,which are in much more danger and closer to their enemies have a right to resort to extraordinary means to protect their people, we do not. The terrorists may hurt us in some ways but they can never defeat us. Face it. We are living in dangerous times but so were our ancestors. They fought and struggled to build this land, it's up to us to keep it safe and free.
