THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM

The old adage about not being able to judge a book by its cover is a wise observation.   How many times have you been fooled by the "cover"?  When I play golf I often find myself playing in a group of strangers.  Whether we admit it or not we all make immediate judgements of some kind.  It is surprising how often we are wrong.

When it comes to first impressions, beauty, wealth and position are the most deceptive.  When I first meet someone I don't know anything about them except their appearance.  I purposely do not inquire about wealth or position or anything which might give me a clue.  I don't want those factors to influence my eventual judgement.  The cover is not important.

Those who have beauty, wealth and position are themselves always at risk. When you possess these things, there is always a chance that those attracted to you are attracted only for those factors.  Would they still be attracted to you  if you became ugly, poor and jobless?

My conclusion is don't let the cover be your guide.  Find out who is behind the cover before you decide.
