"ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE"

I grow weary of people, even our President, running down and apologizing for our country.  If anyone knows of any person or country this side of divinity that is/was perfect, I'd like to know about it.  If we measure everything and everyone against the mythical "perfection", we all fall way short.

If we could place all the good deeds on a scale with bad deeds on the other side, the scale would tip way over to the good guy side.  Some of our "mistakes" were, if it's possible, "good faith" actions.  Bad judgement or bad information leading to wrong judgements.  Unless you are the decision maker at the time, you can't be certain that you wouldn't have done the same thing.  Except for our brutal treatment of native Americans and our liberation from England, we have rarely been engaged in conflicts aimed at conquering and occupying other lands. Maybe Mexico.

The American people are the most generous and compassionate in the world. No disaster has gone unaided, even without disasters we offer constant aid to other countries and we have rescued civilization in major and minor wars since our founding.  We have provided refuge for people of all colors and nationalities and the means for them to prosper.  What else can a country do to earn respect and admiration, not from foreigners but it's own citizens?

Even if YOU are perfect, cut your country some slack.  If you have time and really care, run for office and do it right all the time. The negatives aren't good but the positives are!
