GOSSIP

In a recent blog I discussed how difficult it is for me to penetrate a wall of voices to enter a conversation.  I realize now that my effort to do so may not be whole hearted because often what passes as conversation is merely gossip.

I'm not certain if gossip is as wicked as it is portrayed.  If it weren't for gossip, what would people talk about?  Few really care about current events and religion is verboten.  What's left?  Some enjoy talking sports but these usually end up with angry arguments and threatening hand gestures.

The light at the end of the tunnel is focused on senior citizens.  When all else fails and you've bragged about your kids and grandchildren, there's always the aches and pains, the last surgery and the miserable hospital food.  The best part is that you can talk to yourself or even if your partner isn't listening  it doesn't really matter.  No one is going to answer anyhow and even if they do, you can't hear them.
