TWO IN ONE

Ever since I've started blogging, I've realized I'm two different people.  I guess I knew it before but just never reflected upon it.

When I write, it is nothing like the way I speak.  Why should that be?  I'm the same person talking about the same thing but using different words in a different way. It's not that I'm a "dees, dos and dem" guy from Joisy, it's just different.  If I spoke the way I write, my friends would certainly look at me funny, so would I.  Why is what might be perfectly acceptable in the written word become almost offensive when spoken in the same words?  Is there a perceived snobbery factor when English is spoken correctly.  Is it the same as being a nerd?

I think that is why I enjoy British movies so much.  They tell real stories and they talk like the words are written.  I wish I had the nerve to talk in written style.. I used to write never- ending sentences, qualifying and describing everything along the way to the finish line and, as you can see, still do.  But when I talk, a grunt or brief expression is adequate.

I'm a conflicted person in a conflicted world with conflicted friends.
