WAR

Can war be prevented or is it inevitable? There is a side of man's nature that insists that he not be subject to anyone involuntarily, independence.  But there are also those men who feel superior to all others and try to deprive others of their birthright.  This conflict leads to fighting and war.  It would seem that war is inevitable as long as there are men who would subjugate others.  If it were possible to identify these individuals before they became a real menace, what should or could we do about it?

The Hitlers of the world were known long before they caused serious trouble.  Should, could we have intervened with preemptive action.  Would you, who deplore war, have agreed to such action, even to the point of assassination?  Recently we have been engaged in actions in the Middle East and North Africa which are and have been attempts to engage evil men who have enslaved and killed people who oppose them. These are the same men who have encouraged, instigated, financed and conducted acts of terror around the world. There can be no doubt these men are evil and present a danger to world peace. Should we allow them to do that?  Should we intervene or should we wait until it would be appropriate for us to ask, "Why didn't we do something when we could have?"

Because of evil men such as these, peace loving and living individuals must arm themselves to protect themselves from would-be enslavers.  But some misguided peace loving people who are totally against war don't see the defenders of peace as noble but despise them as war lovers.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Men and women who, at great personal sacrifice, volunteer to defend their country and its people from tyrants are themselves the most noble people of our society.  Without them, we would soon be victims of maniacal dictators.

The "Big stick" policy has kept us free.  Our motto should be, "Live in peace but be prepared for war".
