DE FACTO

Jackasses are said to be stubborn animals and that sometimes you have to hit them with a two-by-four to get their attention.  Government workers, judging from their reaction to attempts to save our states and country from ruin, require the same treatment.  What is it they don't understand that if things continue as they are, most of them will have NO jobs? What is it they don't understand that taxpayers cannot afford them anymore? Reports of union thugs threatening  small businesses who refuse to post signs showing support for the unions are disturbing.  These are crimes that will go unpunished.  MEMBERS WHO ALLOW THIS ARE JUST AS GUILTY AS THEIR UNION BOSSES!

An examination of how things got this bad will show that the excesses in government workers' pay and benefits have been  payoffs by politicians.  The workers are represented by unions and, as our union, we are supposed to be represented by elected officials.  When each side is in a position for personal  gain from a negotiation, there is a potential for corruption. When our representatives stand to gain from giving unions whatever they demand, the APPEARANCES at least suggest corruption.  When the payoffs actually occur in the form of financial gain for unions and political parties, the appearances become reality, defacto.  Corrupt union officials and politicians gain while the people lose.

Those in the political realm should not be allowed to negotiate worker contracts.  Some impartial, neutral panel with no interest in the outcome should negotiate for the people.  As I've indicated before, whenever government workers receive INCREASES in pay and benefits, the rest of the people receive a REDUCTION in theirs.
