WE WILL NEVER "KNOW" FOR SURE

In reading other blogs, I've discovered that my life has been a very fortunate one.  I wonder why some of us have been so fortunate while others encounter tests that would leave most of us devastated, yet they are incredibly courageous.  I wonder whether or not I would have that strength.

Parents, especially mothers, live with the constant fear that their children will be seriously injured or acquire some incurable illness.  Most of these fears are groundless but they are, nonetheless, real.  When it actually happens, we wonder why, and even more, why God lets it happen.

It's my opinion that God, unlike some governments, does not meddle in our lives unless we ask Him to.  Whatever the plan and whatever the reason, he mostly leaves us to our own devices and vices and expects us to know the consequences, good or bad.  However, things happen to us which are not of our choosing and which, if we could choose, we would be happier without.

Attempting to fathom why "He lets it happen" is beyond our ability to reason.  Without the faith that there is a purpose to everything, we tend to blame Him when it is something bad but are reluctant to give Him credit for all the good.  We can't count all the tragic stories we hear in which the victims or their families turn the event into something positive in ways which console and otherwise give strength to others.  Perhaps that is what these heroes have been chosen for.

I am certain God does not do good for the "credit" and I'm not certain  that the "bad" is not, in some perverse way, also "good".  Whether this analysis is correct or not, it has some illogical logic that may be consoling in times of tragedy.  For all those who have suffered tragedies, especially involving their children, the loss is greater if no "good" comes from it.
