The current administration has been attacking the wealthy as though they were some kind of demons although many in the administration are wealthy themselves. Now we see the Republican candidates for the nomination for the presidency being attacked from both sides because some of them are rich. Is being rich a bad thing? I'd like to know because I have always wanted to be rich and I'd like to know if that was wrong. Everyone I know, and those I don't, pay as little in taxes as the law and rules require. To do otherwise would be stupid yet the rich, those who follow the rules, are criticised for doing the same. If they didn't, they would be too stupid to have become rich.
This logic may be disturbing to some who believe "rich" is bad but I believe that, most of the time, the people who are rich know things and know how to do things which most of us do not. There may be room for error in that statement but when selecting someone to become the President, I feel more comfortable voting for someone who has made millions than for someone who earns fifty-thousand dollars a year ands is living from pay check to pay check. I could be wrong but I don't think so.
It's hard to understand why anyone would think that rich people should be disqualified from almost everything you can think of because they are rich. What makes that an issue? Out of touch with the people? Get in touch with them! People who are rich on all sides of the political spectrum have different ways to gain power and to retain it. One says, "Vote for me and I'll take care of you" while the other says, "Vote for me, I'll get you work so you can take care of yourself".
Those are the choices. One leads to dependency, the other, to freedom and happiness.
