OPPOSITES

Everything I can think of has an "opposite".  You may be able to think of something that doesn't but even "opposite" has an opposite-- same.  There's good and bad, hot and cold, rich and poor, right and wrong... you get the idea.  Although we are all created equal, we don't remain that way forever.  Our persona and circumstances change each of us into something unique, sometimes better or worse than others.

Any attempts to equalize everyone in all things is unrealistic and actually unnatural.  If everyone were good, there'd be no bad, if everyone were healthy, there'd be no death.  Opposites are necessary to define by comparisons. For example, if everyone were rich, there'd be no poor and if no one were poor, the rich would not know they were rich, get it?   The answer is NOT that we need poor people so others can be rich!

Most people are compassionate and want to help those, who through no fault of their own, find themselves unable to cope with their existence.  Obviously these should be helped but to expect that the help given should offer non-essential goodies which hard working, low income people cannot afford and cannot have, is unfair.  While this administration is busy telling us what we can and cannot eat or drink,  tax payer money buys them TV's and other electronics, smokes and whiskey and junk food and lottery tickets.

The opposite of welfare is work for pay.  Work for pay requires that jobs be available and people are qualified to do them.  This knowledge makes the solution simple, create jobs and train people to fill them.  Everyone wins. The welfare rolls are reduced, people regain their pride and stop blaming others for their plight and the new workers add to the tax base and stimulate the economy.  Is that genius or just common sense?
