"HOPE FLOATS" (But so does something else)

The "Hope and change" promised by Obama is the other thing that floats.  Whatever you may think of his policies, competence and leadership, he and his supporters are masters of that quality which enables them to "misrepresent" with unequaled skill.  It is nearly impossible to tell if they really believe what they say or know they are lying.  The BIG lie is easier to be believed because we can't believe anyone would tell them if they weren't true.  Most of us feel a little uncomfortable even when telling a little so-called "white lie", white because it's for a good purpose.

The art of propaganda is like a natural ability to draw or paint.  Leon Panetta has difficulty with it as you could see him squirming in his chair when he defended the huge cuts in the defense budget.  He wasn't very convincing when he said the cuts would not harm the capabilities of our armed services.

Even when they point to military leaders who confirm their claims, we know that these men have to agree or resign their commissions.  They cannot disagree with or oppose the "Commander-in-chief". In any case, the primary responsibility of the federal government is to protect our country.  It's not enough to have just the "right amount" of capability, we must have OVERWHELMING ability in this dangerous world.  We know, that in the end, the whole world depends upon the USA.  Even if the other countries are willing, most are not able to defend themselves.  Our history, including two World Wars, is replete with examples of saving other countries as well as our own.
