It irritates me when I keep hearing that the lower 50% of income earners pay no income taxes. In fact, they pay substantial part of the income taxes that wind up in the US treasury.
The corporate and business taxes many seem to think come from the corporations and businesses come indirectly from all of us, including the bottom 50%. The price of goods and services is based upon several considerations but the most important is all the costs, including taxes, of doing business.
Profit margins don't change if we raise taxes on this group but the prices go up until they price themselves out of business.
Corporations and businesses should pay NO income taxes. Making us believe that they do simply conceals how much WE actually do pay. Again, if every product and service were labeled, like gasoline, showing the portion of taxes buried in the prices, we'd have an eye opening experience which would cause a revolution.
The bottom 50% DO pay and always have.
