COMEDY?

There are numerous ways to evaluate and judge things, people or actions.  There are also as many ways to express those judgements, some tolerant, some disdainful and others meant to ridicule or hurt.  We each have a right to our own judgements, right or wrong, but any disagreement or objection, as long as your life is not threatened, can be presented in a way which expresses your disagreement without the intent to injure or provoke.  If it is a fight you're after, you'll probably get it but if you are looking for converts to your point of view, you will likely have others shun you because of your behavior.

The amount of poison dialogue we see today aimed at individuals and institutions is like a tsunami of hatred which will engulf otherwise peaceful societies and create strife akin to that depicted in art portraying Hell.  Emotions, kept within reasonable limits, are good, but when unleashed like some wild beast, achieve nothing but violent responses.  Why go out of your way to insult or ridicule the beliefs of honest, sincere people.  Does it "make your day"?

Some "comedians" hide behind their masks to insult and hurt people.  Somehow, some leeway is allowed because it is all "in fun".  When intended as "humor", and presented in a humorous way, maybe they should get a pass but when the intent is clearly not to be funny and the tone heavy and serious, it is outside of "being funny".  When the spouses and children of the object of the "humor", their disabilities and actions are ridiculed with the most distasteful language and images to "get at" someone, I believe it is slander.  If someone other than a "professional comedian" said the same things in the same way, it would be.  In the end, those who laugh at these disgusting remarks are as bad as the as the one who says them.
