When we are young, most of us never think about becoming old. We think we are invincible. Somewhere along the line, some begin to believe they are old and, no matter what their age, BECOME old. "OLD" is as much a state of mind as it is a physical condition.
To be happy, active, healthy and "young" demands that we have a purpose to be just that, a reason to be "young". I can't quote any statistics but I'll bet that "age old people" are "younger age old people" if they come from large families. Lonely age old people lose incentive, the purpose of life. To them everything is "finished" and there is nothing left to hang around for. Statistics do show that many old, failing people will force themselves to survive long enough to witness an important event like a family wedding.
If my analysis above is correct, all the Keanes, Bowdens, Kolbs and Carones appear to be on a path to near immortality. There is so much to enjoy and do with all these "unusual", in the good sense, people, we have to live a long time to do it all. I really don't want to miss my 3 year old grandson's wedding and I'm going to try not to.
