HAIRCUTS

It's almost impossible for an old guy like me to find a good, old-fashioned barber.  All the old Italian barbers seem to have died out and today we have "stylists".

When I watch the variety of lopsided or random kinds of cuts for hair, I always wonder how they could possibly reproduce the same cut next time without a blue-print.  Can you make the same kinds of poky hair in the same place or is it OK to let them be random?  Could we ask a guy, "What have you done to your hair?" if the barber slips up?  My head spins when I read the list of cuts available and, it seems, the weirder the cut, the greater the cost- kinda like ladies swim wear, the less material, the greater the cost.

I long for the days when I could sit in the barber's chair and he'd sheer me like a sheep and I'd be done but today, I require a skillful barber who can cut my hair without exposing those areas in which my hair is, let's say, "sparse".  Most barbers don't seem to take the shape of your head into consideration when cutting. "Plumb and level" is a builder's term but it should apply to cutting hair too.

Actually, I've often wondered if getting our hair cut and shaving was in God's plan.  You'd think He'd know that if we didn't get it cut it could weigh us down, trip us or even block our vision.  Shouldn't He have limited the growth to a manageable length or caused it to fall off when it reached a certain length?   Why do we need hair anyhow?

OK, Kathy.  See you in four weeks.
