If you have ever tried, in vain, to remember the name of the last of the seven dwarfs or the name of an old time actress, you will understand what I'm saying and how I feel.
For many years I have been trying to solve a riddle with only moderate success. But now, I know the answer and it feels GOOD. The riddle is, how can so many educated, intelligent people be so wrong about so many things. I could never come up with a precise reason so I resorted to name calling, like jackasses, stupid, morons, stuff like that. None was satisfying, and I was criticized for it, so I continued my quest.
Last night the answer came to me over television. An author who wrote about a President was asked his opinion about our current President. The host and author both agreed that he is intelligent so the question was why can't he see and understand that his fiscal policies, which go against his advisers, are ruining our country to a point from which we may never recover? His answer, like William Tell's arrow, went straight to the solution to my riddle. This deserves a new paragraph.
THE ANSWER: "INTELLIGENCE IS NOT THE SAME AS WISDOM". The precise word I've been looking for. He, and his supporters, are NOT jackasses, stupid or morons, they simply lack WISDOM. Oh, what a relief it is!!
