WHY THE CONSTITUTION?

The CONSTITUTION is a contract between the people of the individual states and the federal government.  It specifies what authority, its power and scope, the people allow it to have and what the people reserve for their state and themselves as individuals.

Being wise as well as religious, they recognized that rights bestowed upon man by man would be fragile and subject to the whims of man.  This would allow unscrupulous, even evil, men to grasp power from the people if there were no impediment.  Proclaiming the rights of man to be "inalienable", bestowed by a  "fixed", incorruptible authority was a stroke of genius, no matter what its motives.

There are those who believe that the constitution no longer applies.  I know lots of people who, when it is inconvenient, would like to tear up a contract, but that is not the way it works.  If the federal government and I have a contract and they break it unilaterally, and they are clever enough or the courts are corrupt enough to uphold them, what recourse do I have?  I could send someone to break some kneecaps but that would be almost "cosmetic" compared to what should be done.

Don't let anyone convince you that the Constitution is out dated.  If it needs changing, amend it, but don't allow anyone to bend it. It is what stands between us and tyrants.  It is "INCONVENIENT" and "OUTDATED" only to those who want to harm us.
