DEATH AND TAXES

There is a true saying that the only things which are certain are death and taxes.  As certain as they are, we have learned to cheat on both, Death by getting fixed when we are broken and Taxes by fudging some numbers here and there.  Another connection is that the longer we live, the longer we pay taxes and the more we pay in taxes, the greater chance we'll die younger from aggravation or poverty.

We all cling to life desperately eking out every last minute yet most of us believe in and hope for a better life on the other side. Why, if we believe things will be glorious "then", do we cling to the "now"?  Would it be better to let nature take its course?  Just think, no more taxes!

God also demands "taxes" of a different sort.  Every time we behave badly, there is a "tax".  The more taxes we owe when we get to the Golden Gate", the less chance the gate will open for us. But the tax collector is a really nice guy.  He knows us personally and wants to let us in.  All he asks is that we admit we are delinquent and sincerely apologize for not paying on time.. Not many tax collectors would do that.  On the other hand, if you owe a really big amount or aren't sorry for not paying on time, there's no telling what may happen.  To punish us, he may send us back to where we came from to pay more of the other kind of taxes.

Try to remain tax free.  God taxes are not mandatory.
