Corruption of any kind, besides being immoral and illegal, destroys trust and invites retaliation.
We all are aware of and condemn corruption of various kinds. Corrupt officials, business practices and individuals, Many corrupt practices are cleverly executed and difficult to detect but some are brazen, widely used and almost "accepted".
Ironically, one practice in particular is conducted by the law enforcement community itself. For whatever reason, they distribute decals, badges and cards to favored individuals. These instruments are not for show. They are intended for use to obtain favored treatment by the holder in certain infractions of the law. Favored treatment equals corruption and unequal treatment under the law.
All levels of law enforcement are aware of this practice but it is allowed to continue. Those who know and allow, even if they themselves don't practice it, are certainly guilty of aiding and abetting. How is the ordinary citizen supposed to react to that? Corruption of any magnitude is still corruption. Corruption among those who are enforcers of the law is intolerable.
