BEWARE

Some of my friends have told me that I know just enough to be dangerous.  I must confess, they are right.

I have never presented myself as an authority of any kind and if I have come across that way, I apologize.  You must remember, I thought I was talking to myself and if I pretended to know something, it wouldn't matter. When I write about something, it doesn't necessarily mean I know what I'm talking about, it's just that I feel a need to write it. If you agree with or otherwise believe anything I say, you do so at your own peril.

About most of the people I know I have said that I may not KNOW as much as they do but I'm smarter than they are.  Why do I say that?  Too many of them are hooked on some kind of circular, convoluted logic which deprives them of common sense.  To paraphrase a well known bible passage, "What does a man profit if he knows everything there is to know but can't think?".

It's true that there are times your thought process must be modified to allow extraneous conditions to influence your thinking, but when that intervention conflicts with common sense, you must choose for common sense.  Too often the obvious is obscured by a mountain of "what ifs".

There was, in the past, a tendency for people to believe anything that was in print or in a picture.  Those days are well behind us.  Even if you see it or hear it, it could be fake.  If normal people can sit and watch David Copperfield make the Statue of Liberty disappear and believe it, what can we believe?

We can't give up hope of ever knowing the truth again but we must be as vigilant as possible to detect those who are the poorest liars and demand evidence whenever possible.
