You don't have to be a genius to know that things change with time. Most changes are for the better if we let them be but we have a knack for finding the worst uses for them. Even though there have been revolutionary changes in many things, some things never change, or should I say, shouldn't?
From the time that Moses received the ten commandments from God to this day, the wisdom, if nothing else, of those commands has been the simplest, yet most comprehensive, guide to civilized and holy behavior. I can think of nothing to add that would make them any more inclusive or powerful, can you?
Some things will never change. The nature of man has endured from the beginning. In the history of modern man, we see man as being the same as man is today, All the good and bad characteristics are still with us and therefore in need of the guidance of the commandments. If you examine any and all of the problems societies face all over the world, you will conclude that if all the bad actors had followed the commandments, the world would be a much better place.
Even though these words were inspired by God himself, any intelligent human could have arrived at these rules: they, except the religious two, are common sense. All teach us how to treat each other to avoid problems. The commandments, and their value, haven't changed but the way people treat each other has.
