HONESTY

Many people say they are honest and appreciate honesty in others, except when the truth is something they don't want to hear or deal with (denial).

I am what some would call "old".  In years that is true.  I am receiving Social Security and am on Medicare.  When these two programs were started, no one had the foresight to realize that some day there would be over 300 million of us and, because of medical advances, that so many would live long enough to use these programs.  As it turns out, this PONZI scheme exceeds Bernie Maddoff's by miles.  Like a PONZI, new "investors" (taxpayers) pay the dividends to previous "investors".  When the proportion of new "investors" are not numerous enough to support payments to larger numbers of the older "investors", the scheme collapses.

The truth is, we can no longer continue these plans under the current rules.  They will collapse from lack of money unless the rules or the plans are changed.  Ironically, Medicare is probably responsible for the demise of both plans.  The health care it provides seniors has kept them alive longer which has created costs that were never anticipated for both plans.  Keeping them "alive" longer often means in a condition in which  more and more expensive health services are needed and Social Security payments continued which add to the burden and expense.

Let's explore the realities , the truth.  Obviously, the thing that smacks you right between the eyes is the fact that if more people would die younger, the problem wouldn't be so bad.  Less medical care and less Social Security payments.  If everyone insists on living as long as they can, with even better technology we could all live to be at least 100-120.  WHAT THEN?

They tell us that Obamacare will insure another 40 million people for health care.  We must assume that many of those would live longer with this care so the rolls for both plans would grow like the tumors they are.  In addition, since they don't  have insurance, most are probably not earning much and do not contibute much to either fund.  Obama tries to frighten us with images of grandmothers and fathers and disabled children dying in the sreets without his plan.. In fact, his plan will place more people at risk because care will not be available on demand and lives will be lost waiting for approvals and/or appointments.

His program, in fact, might be the solution to fixing the problems with the two plans.  When I pointed out that if more people would die younger it would help, I wasn't suggesting we should do something about it, but Oboma has!  He might be craftier than I thought.
