IDIOTS!

New Jerseys' pedestrian laws have created a new outbreak of mentally challenged people.  The law requires motor vehicles to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.  For some reason, the pedestrians believe this means they can cross any street any time in any direction without looking!!  Even worse, they also believe it is OK to wander around a parking lot as though they were out for a stroll in the park.

There are so many laws and rules which release people from any responsibility for their actions that I am beginning to believe those making the rules are right in believing that most of us are idiots.  When I was younger, I had a job in a railroad signal tower.  It didn't last long.  One of the reasons was that the first rule in the handbook advised that you should not stand in front of oncoming trains.  Really!!

From early childhood, parents and others are so protective of their children that they never learn to take care of themselves.  Teach them how and then LET them.  As a matter of fact, insist upon it.  Personal responsibility is the cornerstone of good character.  Let's not destroy that.
