THE GREATER GOOD

We've all heard the expression "the greater good".  It is interpreted by most to mean NOW.  The good for present time.  That is the political view.

What is/are more important to you?  Yourself, your children and grandchildren, future generations of Americans and preserving the traditions of freedom?  We've seen the power of selfish unions in reversing the attempts to make common sense changes to preserve our future.  The minimal sacrifices their members were asked to make wouldn't amount to a thimble full compared to the sacrifices made by our troops to protect us now and to protect our future.  They talk about the greed of Wall Street yet can't see their own.  In both cases, the battle cry is, "As long as I get mine!"

The greater good, to me, means protecting the future of our country for those who follow into perpetuity.  If we allow our system of freedom to collapse for personal gain now, future Americans will pay the price, not only in money, but in their quality of life.  It must be obvious that someone will have to take the hit to get back on track.  To me, it seems those who caused the problem should pay, not those who follow.
