ONE NATION, UNDER GOD

The founders knew what they wanted and why they were entitled to it.  Until that time, authority for governments came from people, sometimes people who claimed to be gods or descendant from gods.  Nevertheless, they were just people and those governed were at the mercy of the whims of the ruler.  A PERSON decided what was right and wrong, what you could do and have, whether you lived or died.

We were fortunate that our nation was created by men who believed that we, as creatures of God, enjoyed certain natural rights which were backed by the authority of God himself.  Something bestowed upon us by God can be taken away only by God.

There are some who object to this proposition.  Their view is that we are just animals, here by some chaotic happenstance and that we can make our own rules.  If we are just animals who can decide their own destiny, then the strong will rule the weak and the fate of the weak becomes the same as the slave states we know in the world today.  Without an authority higher than "man" himself, anything goes and your "rights" can be stripped from you.  With the guidance of God's authority, each of us is equal and free to pursue his own destiny without the fear of control and reprisal.
