BECAUSE THEY ARE THERE

If you had a job with nothing to do, what would you do?  If you wanted to keep your job, you'd have to "make work".  This seems to be the way with our Congress.  They think that to keep their jobs, they must keep making laws and rules, even if they are not necessary, or even useful, to make us believe THEY are necessary. It used to be called, "Empire building".  These idle minds often turn to demagoguery.

For me, there is only one question I'd like them to answer  and that is, "Who the hell do they think they are?" Why do they think that they are so superior to the rest of us that they have to tell us how to run our lives?  As  the lyrics to a song complain, " They can't even run their own lives, I'll be damned if they'll run mine."  Liberty gives us the right to be right or wrong making our own decisions.  For me and mine, my decisions are for me to make.  If I need their help, I'll ask them.

The "common good" does not empower these semi-useless people to reduce us all to the lowest "common denominator".  We each have a right to excel or fail based upon our own ability, judgements and efforts. The things which would help us all the most are those these people will not do and that is to consider us first and not their special interests or their parties.

The story of Nero fiddling while Rome burned is a picture of our government.  At the most critical and dangerous time in our history, they are putting on a sideshow.
