EQUAL BUT NOT THE SAME

Even though we are all different, we are, in the sight of God and our laws, considered equal.  But any fool can see that we are not the same.

Political correctness has overwhelmed our language with the impossible challenge of trying to turn equality into "sameness".  Gender differences have become obscured by such expressions as "congress or service MEMBERS" to avoid indicating the gender of the person identified yet, when you see or hear them, you know immediately, except for Nancy Pelosi, their gender.  The purpose of this tactic escapes me.

Followed to the extreme, maybe we should disguise the sex of our children by naming them differently. How about "James" for your daughter and "Julia" for you son?  Every language has words which separate things and people by gender.  Many require that adjectives which apply to gender specific words require an ending compatible with the gender.  We will have to abandon the pronouns "he" and "she" and be left with "it"..  "Daddy, it hit me." To accommodate the nuts of political correctness, we would have to invent entire new languages.

No matter what contortions we go through with language to make everyone seem to be the same, I will always know a woman when I see her.
