Everyone, especially the troops, is happy to see our warriors out of Iraq and back home. Whether or not it was a smart move remains to be seen.
After feeling ambivalent about this action, it suddenly occurred to me that this could be a clever ploy by an otherwise clueless President. What if this is a "trap play" where you let a man through the line just to trap him. What if this is a brilliant military strategy?
There is a general consensus that we should not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons and that, in the end, we may have to use the military option. Exercising this option now has little support except for Israel. What if, now that we are out of Afghanistan, the Iranians overrun Iraq. That would offer a plausible excuse to attack Iran and would have more universal support.
There's little hope that this is the case, but this "war" is far from over.
