YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST

The ideal fuel for cars, if it were possible, would be water or air. Both are plentiful and "free".  Water, of course is used to produce steam which in turn provides power but another fuel is required to produce the steam.

Air, however, can be compressed without much help after the initial  start turns the engine which in turn can  function to power a compressor to refill the tanks.  The compressors in our air conditioners are powered by electricity.  In an automobile, the compressors could be run by electricity through generators powered by the work of the engine (which recharge our batteries) or  directly from some connection to a fast moving part, like the wheels, or air flow from the speed of the car.  An extra bonus is that there would be zero emissions.

Another possibility is electrical power stored in batteries and generated in the same way as compressed air, that is, moving parts of the car or the wind generated by the forward motion which would turn a turbine.

If some engineer type reads this, let me know if you think this is feasible.
