They say you can't know someone unless you've been "in their shoes". I believe that is good advice but what I'm about to say may seem sacrilegious. You be the judge.
Those of us who have children remember how dumb we were when we had our first. We had no clue what to do and winged it responding to some kind of instincts and some advice from other equally dumb people. It was a terrifying time.
When God created man, He was like a first time father. He expected that His kids would be perfect, obedient and good. Did He ever guess wrong, just like we did!! He didn't ask for much and believed if He gave them everything they needed in a paradise that He would have no problems with them and He could enjoy them and they would love Him for His generosity. Yeah. Just like our kids, right?
He was shocked beyond belief when He, God, had failed so miserably to raise perfect children. He was humiliated and angry, like we would be, He punished them severely, took away paradise and made their lives miserable in many ways. He was angry enough that He passed the punishment along to all their children forever.
After some time, He relented and wondered what He could do to make amends. He decided to give them another chance. He would disguise Himself as one of them and go live among them to instruct and show them how to live by His example. When He was satisfied that his people understood what was expected, He gave them a way to repent for their wayward ways and someday to return to a new paradise with Him, He left them with hope for redemption and forgiveness and a one way ticket home.
That's the way I see it standing in His shoes. He did what most of us would do for our children.
