ONE CHANCE IS ALL YOU GET

It seemed like it was the right thing to do

He talked good, made promises to me and you

We hoped he would do all that he said

But as you know his promises are dead.

When I was a boy, I read a story about a farm boy turning twelve and becoming the age farm boys were given their first gun.  The father bought the boy a single shot rifle.  His son complained that he had wanted a repeating rifle.  The father explained, " Son, if you have more than one shot, you get careless.  If you have only one shot, you'll make it count".
