IT WORKS!!! (Most of the time)

After practicing Chiropractic for 54 years, I was satisfied that the results most of my patients experienced were more than just coincidental.  I had begun to take the results for granted because of the high percentage of patients who were what some call "satisfied customers".  Please, don't think I am bragging because I know that anyone who had done the things I did would have had the same results.

There are countless cases of neck, shoulder and back pain which had been treated in other ways which responded to the adjustment, repositioning of spinal bones. But some of the more unusual, and for non-believers, unexpected results were the most satisfying.  Headaches of all kinds were some of my most successful cases.  If there had been an opportunity to specialize in the treatment and prevention of recurrences of headache, that would have been my choice.

Many of the results obtained from spinal adjustments were coincidental but only because the condition had not been reported in the history.  After the fact, many patients would tell about other unreported, unrelated problems which had improved or cleared up as a result of their chief complaint having been addressed.  This used to amaze me in the beginning but it became so frequent that it could be explained only by the reality that the nerves responsible for the chief complaint were bundled with other nerves in the same nerve trunk which were responsible for the other problems.

The most satisfying case I had was also the one which responded in record time.  When at a local pool with our children, my wife met another mother at the kiddy pool.  This woman told about her unrelenting  headache which she had had for twenty years.  Naturally, my wife, looking for business for me, made an appointment for me to see her.  I adjusted her and gave her another appointment but she never returned.  Years later, we ran into her somewhere and I gave her a hard time for not returning or, at least, cancelling the appointment.  She told me the headache had gone away, never came back and she didn't think she would have to return.

Another case was a young 18 or 19 year old male who had petit mal epileptic seizures for many years.  He had hundreds a day.  I adjusted him for 2-3 weeks, 3 times a week.  At the end of that time, his siezures stopped.  He moved to Pennsylvania shortly after that so I had only seen him a short time after they stopped.  It is too bad we don't have the opportunity to work with some more serious conditions like epilepsy, autism and even some mental cases.

My final story could get me into trouble.  I had 4-5 female patients who were having difficulty trying to get pregnant.  After only a few adjustments each had been able to conceive.  I knew it was the adjustments that did the job, but as convinced as my wife was about the effectiveness of chiropractic,  I know there was always a lingering doubt about these cases.
