The cover-up is like putting on a mask AFTER you've robbed the bank, Stupid. It is also an admission of guilt because no sane person covers up some noble act. It's a little easier to succeed in covering up when just one or a few people are guilty. The more people involved in the dastardly deed, the more there are to cave, reveal the truth and to point fingers of blame to save themselves.
It seems that an extraordinary number of politicians, especially Presidents, have had their share of cover-ups. When these involved Republicans, when the truth was finally discovered, they would resign in disgrace. However, Democratic scandals barely surface and when they do, they are treated like "boys will be boys" attitude and nothing further happens.
This time, we are faced with a cover-up of events which led to the deaths of four Americans, one an ambassador who stands in place of our president in the country to which he/she is assigned. Still another event in which an American border patrol agent was murdered because of our own actions. Deaths as a result of the policies and actions of our own government cannot be tolerated. Those responsible must be found out and punished in the most severe way allowed by law. But here is the rub.
Full fledged cover-ups of both cases are in process by this administration which is withholding information and distorting some other. This kind of action, a de facto admission of guilt, can't be condemned too severely. Crimes of neglect and indifference which result in the deaths of our own, whether from ineptness or for political reasons, cannot go unpunished.
