APODICTIC

In this debate over raising the debt limit, each side asserts apodictic catastrophes whether or not the debt limit is raised.  Both sides are probably right in some ways but the choice seems to be which will do less harm and/or which will lead to recovery and which to ruin.  If we take the selfish, childish route, we will opt for unlimited spending and let our children and grandchildren sink into third world standards from which recovery will be impossible for decades or longer.  If we bite the bullet, restore sane spending limits and encourage risk takers by giving them some kind of stability for a long enough period of time for them to be willing to take risks, there is a light ahead.

How anyone who had managed a household with limited resources cannot see that spending more than you have, no matter how necessary or well intentioned, just doesn't work.  Sooner or later the debt collector will show up at your door with a BASEBALL BAT IN HAND.

If we care about the future of our country and that of our kids and theirs, we must accept the most austere present we can withstand to remove some of the burden from future generations.  If we don't do it voluntarily now, circumstances will cause us to implode in a way from which no recovery can ever happen.

I hope our representatives reject the debt ceiling increase unless all the other cuts in spending are guaranteed NOW.
