Last night on O'Reilly on Fox News, he interviewed a Catholic priest and asked if he thought Rick Santorum's religious views, which he expresses openly and often, would help or hurt him in the campaign for the Presidency. He was asked specifically about the "Catholic" voters reaction. To my surprise, his answer seemed to indicate a very lukewarm support for Rick stating that most Catholics are rather "moderate" in their Catholic convictions. My impression was that Rick is a better representative of Catholicism than that priest.
Some say religion and politics don't mix. I say, honest politics is founded in religious ideas. American values cannot be separated from our spiritual lives. Some try to conceal their religious views because the secularists who dominate the media vilify anyone who brings it up. Santorum's honesty and consistent application of his views in the political arena are both refreshing and admirable. He has the courage to back up his convictions without apologies.
When trying to decide who can best represent our country and mean it when they take the oath to protect and defend the Constitution, who would you trust, someone with a connection with God or an atheist? The Constitution reflects the kind of government which protects our rights which are backed by the authority of God.
