There is no doubt that some ultimate authority is needed to avoid never ending disagreement about anything. The United States Supreme Court is that body for us. The problem arises that often, if not always, the nine judges are not as objective as we would hope but allow their personal philosophies of government to color their decisions. This amounts to legislating from the bench, but only the Congress can legislate. The courts' decision becomes the law of the land as much as if the Congress had passed it, and is difficult, sometimes impossible, to reverse or modify the decision. In its current form, one vote, the tie breaker, can, and often does, decide the case. The importance of these decisions demands a more decisive vote say, as in some games, they must win by two points or votes. Cases could be rated by some means so that more significant cases could require greater majorities than others.
