A SNAPSHOT OF GOD

Christians believe that we were created in the "image" of God.  What does that mean?  We obviously don't look like Him.  Is it our intelligence, our ability to reason or our freedom to make choices?  Is He tempted as we are and does his perfection lie in his ability to resist all evil, like smacking us when we do wrong?  What IS His "image"?

Artists have portrayed God in various ways but always as a man floating around in the sky.  I don't think He "looks" like that, He can't, He is non-material and has no form.  When you ask, "What does God look like"?, no one can answer.  He is like an idea, seen only in its works.  Therefore, if you want to know what He and his ideas look like and what he thinks, look around, we are surrounded by God's works, more evidence that He is real.  It's something like admiring some beautiful work of art or being moved by some music, and although we don't know who created it, we know something about the creators through their work.

Obama was right when he said if you built something, you didn't do it yourself.  Someone else helped you.  The only difference is he meant someone else.
