MORALITY/ITS AFFECT ON HEALTH, DISEASE AND SOCIAL PROBLEMS

For many, morality is passe.  The sixties "liberation" movement included liberation from moral behavior.  Instead of liberation, it has caused the spread of important diseases and social problems which are strangling our society.

The sexual revolution has caused the spread of all STD's impairing the health of millions who, in a moral society, would never have been affected.  It has also resulted in millions of unwanted pregnancies, most out of wedlock, and an unbelievable number of abortions.  The fate of those born with STD's is just a cut above those who were aborted.  These unwanted children wind up in single parent homes and parent and children require public assistance to survive.  Most of the children will fail in school, adding to future burdens on society, will become gang members perpetrating crimes against honest people and in general cost the public billions of dollars just by BEING THERE.  The emotional problems of these millions, and their costs, cannot be exaggerated.

If what we call "moral behavior" is not followed by religious conviction, it is obvious that, for practical reasons, society would benefit immensely if everyone practiced these principles.  Non-believers should be able to convince themselves that it isn't "giving in" to the religious ideas but that even  if religion did not exist, practical people would have come up with the same ideas to save society.
